Everyday Dose Review: Does Nootropic Coffee Work?

Everyday Dose Review: Does Nootropic Coffee Work?

| |
| |

Everyday Dose is a coffee blend that contains nootropic ingredients like mushrooms and functional ingredients like collagen. The brand describes their product as an “upgrade” to coffee that “addresses issues with regular coffee.”

But is Everyday Dose really a better option for cognitive enhancement and overall wellness than regular coffee? Does the product contain any questionable additive ingredients? How do real users rate and describe the taste and cognitive effects? And which retailer sells Everyday Dose for the best price?

In this article we’ll answer these questions and more, as we analyze every ingredient in Everyday Dose based on clinical studies to give our take on whether or not it's likely to be healthier and more effective for cognition than regular coffee.

We'll feature unsponsored user reviews of the product, and compare Everyday Dose to another popular coffee alternative brands MUD\WTR and Ryze.

We'll also share our concerns about Everyday Dose's marketing practices, and provide a cost comparison to show which retailer sells Everyday Dose for the best price.

Ingredient Analysis

Everyday Dose ingredients

The ingredients in Everyday Dose are shown above, and there are active ingredients in this formulation beyond just coffee.

Collagen peptides are included at a dose of 4 grams (g).

Collagen doesn't appear to have any effects on cognition, but it can improve skin quality, and the collagen dose in Everyday Dose appears to be effective.

A medical review published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology found the effective daily dosing range of collagen to be between 2.5 g and 10 g, as this dosing range reduced wrinkles and improved skin quality.

L-theanine is an amino acid that reduces stress and has a synergistic effect with caffeine.

As we documented in our review of Nootropics Depot, the combination of l-theanine and caffeine is shown in clinical studies to improve attention, and the 150 milligrams (mg) in Everyday Dose is an effective dose.

The remaining active ingredients are coffee and two mushrooms.

Chaga is a mushroom that was shown in a 2019 medical review to have anti-cancer and anti-viral effects, but we can't find any evidence that it enhances cognition.

Lion’s mane extract is clinically shown to enhance cognitive function at a similar dose to the average ingredient dose in Everyday Dose's "Mushrooms + Coffee" blend.

The good thing about Everyday Dose is that it has no harmful additive ingredients like artificial flavors or added sugar. There are no ingredients at all in this formulation we consider unhealthy.

We do not believe that Everyday Dose is superior to black coffee in regard to nootropic benefits, because it’s a low-caffeine coffee blend and caffeine is the predominant nootropic compound in coffee. That being said, this product does contain other active ingredients that may be effective for improving mood or cognition.

We believe Everyday Dose may be a useful alternative for consumers sensitive to caffeine. It also may be a useful skincare supplement given that it contains an effective collagen dose (though mixing unflavored collagen into black coffee would likely be more cost-effective).

Real People Try Everyday Dose

A YouTube creator named “The Random Outdoor” has a review of Everyday Dose that includes a product unboxing and a discussion about the product's taste and effects:

A YouTube creator who has a channel focused on coffee reviews called "Will it Brew" reviewed Everyday Dose:

Highly Intrusive Spam Emails

Everyday Dose marketing email

As we were browsing the Everyday Dose website while researching this article, the brand sent a marketing email to one of our team members. We never input our email on their website or consented to marketing messages.

We find this to be a highly disruptive and frustrating marketing practice, and we urge Everyday Dose to only email individuals who sign up for emails. We are unsure how the company accessed our team member’s personal email, but this is a red flag about the brand overall.

We recommend that consumers avoid the Everyday Dose website until they update their marketing practices to respect the privacy of consumers.

Where to Get the Best Price

Everyday Dose is sold at a variety of online retailers. Here's a price breakdown at the time of updating this article:

EveryMarket: $69.45 (link)

Amazon: $39.99 (free shipping, link to official Amazon listing)

Brand website: $30 (requires subscription, free shipping, link)

Everyday Dose is currently 25% cheaper on the brand's website than Amazon, but the brand's website requires a subscription purchase (that auto-ships monthly).

For consumers who just want to try the product once to see if they like it, Amazon may be a better option.

Everyday Dose vs. the Competition

Ryze and MUD\WTR are two of the most popular nootropic coffee alternative brands.

Here's our take on Everyday Dose versus both brands in terms of healthiness and cognitive effects:

MUD\WTR

We reviewed MUD WTR ingredients in a separate Illuminate Health article, and we consider Everyday Dose to have a superior formulation.

Everyday Dose contains several ingredients we consider effectively dosed: collagen peptides, lion's mane extract and l-theanine.

We were unable to identify any effectively-dosed ingredients for nootropic function or health in our MUD\WTR review.

Winner: Everyday Dose

Ryze

Ryze has a very similar formulation to Everyday Dose, given that both brands contain coffee and a mushroom blend.

The average ingredient dose in Everyday Dose's mushroom blend is higher and more aligned with clinical studies we've come across than that in Ryze.

We also consider Everyday Dose to be a better option for consumers who want a cosmetic benefit, because of the effective dose of collagen peptides.

Winner: Everyday Dose

Our Clean Coffee Picks

MBG Clean Coffee+ is our top coffee product, because it’s ground for convenience, organic certified, and third-party lab tested for purity (which is highly uncommon for coffee).

Four Sigmatic Think is our top nootropic coffee brand, because it contains organic Lion's Mane which is clinically shown to enhance cognitive function.

Both of the products recommended in this section are entirely free of additive ingredients that we consider to be unhealthy.

Real Customers Review Everyday Dose

Amazon is a better resource for honest customer reviews than a brand's website in our opinion. Everyday Dose has been reviewed over 700 times on Amazon, with an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars at the time of updating this article.

The top positive review from a verified purchaser comes from a user named “KayCee” who gives the product a 5/5 star rating, and claims that it's better than coffee:

“No jitters or anxiety that I get with coffee, less expensive dive on manufacturers site though with great accessories.”

The top negative review from a verified purchaser is written by a user named “G. Moll" who gives the product a 1/5 star rating, and claims that it gave them brain fog:

"Well it turns out it doesn't matter because it doesn't do anything but leave me in a brain fog. Every time I drink this my focus goes right out the window. I perform clerical work and this makes it 3x harder."

Everyday Dose currently has an average review rating of 1 out of 5 stars on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website, and the brand has failed to respond to the majority of complaints at the time of updating this article, which is a red flag.

Everyday Dose currently has an average review rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars on Google.

Conclusion

Everyday Dose makes a good coffee alternative for consumers who are sensitive to caffeine.

This product provides the amount of caffeine in about one-third of one cup of coffee, and contains several other effective ingredients that may provide nootropic and health benefits, like l-theanine, lion's mane extract and collagen peptides.

We consider Everyday Dose to be better-formulated than MUD/WTR and Ryze, two other popular coffee alternatives.

Everyday Dose sent the author of this article a spam marketing email even though we just visited their site while researching this article and did not opt in to marketing communications.

We very strongly disagree with this practice, and urge the brand to stop engaging in this practice. It’s disrespectful to the privacy and time of consumers. We would consider recommending the brand overall if not for this marketing practice.

At the time of updating this article, the Everyday Dose website has the best price on the product overall, but requires a subscription order. Amazon currently has the best price on one-time orders.
