Ro Sparks is a pharmaceutical erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment sold by the popular men's health brand Ro. The brand claims their formulation "gets you hard in 15 minutes" and "keeps you ready for up to 36 hours."

But what are the active ingredients in Ro Sparks? Are they effectively dosed? Is this overpriced compared to taking the generic drugs individually? And are there any questionable additive ingredients?

In this article we'll answer all of these questions and more, as we analyze the ingredients in Ro Sparks to give our take on whether or not it's likely to be effective for promoting erections, and whether or not it's healthy.

We'll also compare the cost of Ro Sparks to the cost of taking its two active ingredients separately.

Ingredient Analysis

The active ingredients in Ro Sparks, and their respective doses, are shown below:

Ro Sparks active ingredients

Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra, and tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis.

Ro Sparks' sildenafil dose of 55 milligrams (mg) is within the effective dosing range of 25 mg to 100 mg, according to this 2023 medical review.

Ro Sparks' tadalafil dose of 22 mg is above the dosing range on the medication's FDA label, which lists 20 mg as the maximum dose.

Both of the active ingredients in Ro Sparks are FDA-approved for the treatment of ED, so we consider this product likely to be effective for ED.

However, this may be too strong of an option for patients new to pharmacological management of ED, given that one of its active ingredients is at a dose higher than the FDA recommended range.

One concern we have about Ro Sparks is that the inactive ingredient information is not clearly published on the product page at the time of publishing this article.

Consumers may have sensitivities or allergies to inactive ingredients.

The pills appear to be red, based on the images, so is synthetic dye used? Is flavoring used?

We believe that consumers deserve access to the full ingredient list (both active and inactive).

Is Ro Sparks Overpriced?

Since the active ingredients in this drug are both generic medications sold separately, it's easy to compare the price to other options.

Ro Sparks currently costs $12 per dose.

50 mg of sildenafil currently costs $0.13 per dose at Cost Plus Drugs.

20 mg of tadalafil currently costs $0.17 per dose at Cost Plus Drugs.

While it's true that the respective doses in Ro Sparks are slightly different (55 mg and 22 mg), we haven't come across any clinical evidence that these doses are superior to the above-listed doses, which are both within the approved FDA range.

Based on this information, we consider Ro Sparks to be considerably overpriced.

Ro Sparks vs. the Competition

There are a number of other men's health companies selling branded variations of ED pills.

Here's our take on how Ro Sparks stacks up to the competition:

Bluechew

Arguably the most popular ED pill brand, but also fails to clearly publish inactive ingredient information. Considerably cheaper than Ro Sparks.

Winner: Bluechew

Rugiet

Like Ro Sparks, this brand contains a combination of sildenafil and tadalafil (and one other active ingredient). As we detailed in our Rugiet review article, we have safety concerns regarding their proprietary formulation.

Winner: Ro Sparks

Hims

Sildenafil and tadalafil generic are available for purchase at a better price than Ro Sparks.

Winner: Hims

Our Clean Men's Health Picks

Illuminate Labs Panax Ginseng Extract is our top erection quality pick.

Panax ginseng was shown in a clinical trial published in The Journal of Urology to increase erectile function scores "significantly" compared to participants taking placebo pills.

MBG Vitamin D3 Potency+ is our top testosterone support pick.

Vitamin D3 supplementation has been clinically shown to increase total testosterone levels by over 25%.

Both of the products recommended in this section are entirely free of ingredients that we consider unhealthy.

We're not suggesting that dietary supplements should be used to treat any medical condition, or that they're as effective as any FDA-approved medication; rather, we're just sharing information that individuals averse to prescription medication can speak with their doctor about.

Conclusion

We consider Ro Sparks likely to be effective for the treatment of ED, given that it contains two FDA-approved active ingredients.

One of the active ingredients is dosed above the recommended range on the FDA label.

We have concerns about the inactive ingredient profile of this medication, because it's not clearly published on the product page at the time of publishing this article.

The two active ingredients in Ro Sparks can be obtained significantly cheaper (more than 90%) when purchased individually at Cost Plus Drugs.

We consider Roman Swipes (the other ED treatment by Ro that we reviewed on Illuminate Health) to be better-formulated than this product.
