Obvi is a dietary supplement manufacturer that sells a product called Collagenic Burn. The product is marketed as a weight loss and beauty supplement in one.

But does Obvi Collagenic Burn contain an effective collagen dose for skin? Does it have ingredients that are shown in research studies to cause weight loss? Does it have any questionable additives? And how do real users rate and describe the effects of this supplement?

In this article we’ll answer all of these questions and more, as we analyze the ingredients in Obvi Collagenic Burn based on medical studies to give our take on whether or not this supplement is likely to be effective for beauty and weight loss, or if it’s a waste of money.

We’ll feature unsponsored customer reviews of the brand, and provide a cost comparison to show which retailer sells Obvi for the best price.

Ingredient Analysis

Obvi vitamin and mineral ingredients

Obvi Collagenic Burn contains a large number of active ingredients, so we’re breaking our ingredient analysis into two sections.

The vitamin and mineral ingredients are shown above.

Chromium is a mineral that’s been associated in research studies with weight loss, although “the magnitude of the effect is small” according to a medical review published in the Obesity Reviews journal.

Obvi provides 457% of the Daily Value (DV) of chromium, and it may be unsafe to take such a high mineral dose for extended periods of time. We’d certainly recommend consulting with a doctor before doing so.

Biotin is frequently used to promote hair growth, although clinical studies suggest that it has no effects in non-deficient adults.

We can’t find any clinical evidence backing the other two vitamins and minerals in this blend for either skin or weight optimization, nor does Obvi cite any on their product page.

The remaining active ingredients in this formulation are shown below:

Obvi other active ingredients

Collagen is included at a total dose of 1 gram (g). As we documented in our Native Path Collagen reviews article, a meta-study we came across suggests the effective dosing range of collagen to be between 2.5 g and 10 g daily.

Taking any substantial supplemental collagen could benefit the skin, but again we can’t find research proving so at this low of a daily dose, nor does Obvi cite any on their product page.

Green tea extract is effective for weight loss, but is an ingredient consumers should be cautious of in our opinion.

A review published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology described green tea extract as a "potential cause of acute liver failure."

CLA is another likely effective ingredient for weight loss with a questionable safety profile.

As we documented in our Night Shred reviews article, this ingredient is clinically shown to increase insulin resistance and cause oxidative stress at the dose required to cause weight loss.

Raspberry ketone was shown in an animal study to cause weight loss, but at an equivalent dose much higher than that in Obvi’s supplement.

We can’t find any clinical backing for the remaining active ingredients at their stated doses.

Overall, we’re unconvinced that Obvi Collagenic Burn will improve skin quality, but we do believe this supplement is likely to cause weight loss given its effectively-dosed inclusions of CLA and green tea extract.

We don’t currently recommend this supplement due to our concerns over some of its active ingredients highlighted in this section.

We’re also confused by the lack of an inactive ingredient list on Obvi’s Supplement Facts label.

Perhaps this supplement contains no inactive ingredients, but the color of the pills is a bright pink (at least in the brand’s website imagery), and we’re unsure how they would achieve the color or the encapsulation material without inactive ingredients.

We urge Obvi to clarify whether there are inactive ingredients in this formulation, and if there are, to publish them on the product’s Supplement Facts label. This is a consumer safety issue.

But how do real customers rate and describe the effects of Obvi Collagenic Burn? We’ll feature some unsponsored customer reviews in the next section of this article.

Our Clean Weight Loss Picks

There are food-based nutrients which have been shown in medical studies to be effective for weight loss.

Dietary fiber was shown in a medical review published in The Journal of Nutrition to cause 16 pounds of weight loss in 6 months when combined with moderate caloric restriction (750 calories per day below baseline).

MBG Organic Fiber Potency+ is our top fiber pick because it's certified organic, provides 7 g of fiber per serving and costs under $1.85 per serving at the time of updating this article.

MCT oil was shown in a meta-study to cause more than one pound of weight loss over 10 weeks. This equates to potential annualized weight loss of 6 pounds per year with less than one tablespoon's worth of MCT oil per day.

Bulletproof MCT Oil is our top MCT oil product, because the only ingredient is MCT oil derived from coconuts. and it currently costs only $15.50 for over a month's worth of product.

Ginger intake "significantly decreased body weight" according to a 2019 meta-study on ginger and weight loss that analyzed data from 14 clinical trials.

Pique La Ginger is our top ginger product, because it's an organic tea in convenient crystallized form, and all that's needed is to pour the powder into a glass and add hot water.

All three of the products mentioned in this section are entirely free of additive ingredients that we consider to be unhealthy or unsafe.

Real Customers Review Obvi

Amazon is a better resource for honest customer reviews than a brand’s website in our opinion.

Obvi’s supplement has been reviewed over 3,700 times on Amazon, with an average customer review rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars.

The top positive review from a verified purchaser is written by a user named “Chris Harris” who gives the supplement a 4 out of 5 star rating and claims it caused weight loss:

“Most noticeable difference since taking them is weight loss. I can't exercise due to back and joint issues. I haven't changed my diet at all. By time I had gotten through my 2nd bottle I realized I had lost 10 lbs.”

The top negative review from a verified purchaser comes from a user named “Shellie Wesley” who gives the supplement a 1 out of 5 star rating and suggests it caused weight gain:

“Very disappointed in product. Exercised regularly, watched what I ate. Took as directed and actually gained weight. Skin got worse instead of better. Do not recommend!!”

Obvi currently has an average customer review rating of 1.65 out of 5 stars on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website.

More concerning than the average low rating (which is common on that website) is the fact that the brand has failed to respond to every new customer complaint on the first page of complaints at the time of publishing this article.

Some of these complaints were published all the way back in 2021.

We consider it a red flag when a company fails to even attempt to resolve customer complaints.

Collagenic Burn has an average review rating of only 3.9 out of 5 stars even on the brand’s official website at the time of publishing this article, although this does at least suggest legitimacy of the review process.

Conclusion

Obvi Collagenic Burn is more impressive as a fat burner than a skincare product in our opinion.

There are no ingredients in this formulation that we consider effectively dosed for improving skin quality after a review of clinical research.

There are several ingredients we consider effectively dosed for weight loss, including green tea extract and CLA, that are clinically shown to have questionable health effects in some individuals.

This supplement does not appear to be clinically tested.

The reviews for Obvi Collagenic Burn across all channels are mediocre.

At the time of publishing this article, Obvi is cheaper on Amazon than on the brand’s official website when factoring in shipping costs.
