Naked & Thriving is a skincare brand that claims to promote “youthful-looking radiance.” Their most popular product is called Renew Resurfacing Night Cream and is used to increase skin hydration, reduce wrinkles and improve skin quality.
But can the serum actually achieve these outcomes or is it just another expensive skincare product with no proof of its claims?
In this article we’ll seek to answer this question by analyzing every ingredient in this serum based on medical research, to give our take on whether it’s likely to be effective or not.
Ingredient Review
Sodium hyaluronate is one of the first active ingredients in this serum, and we consider it to be one of the most effective skincare ingredients. A medical review published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules described sodium hyaluronate as a “skin rejuvenating biomedicine” because of how effective it is at improving skin hydration, reducing wrinkles and stimulating collagen production.
Ferulic acid is another effective ingredient. We have not noted this ingredient in any previous Illuminate Health skincare product review, but it appears to be a powerful antioxidant that protects various skin structures such as collagen and elastin according to a medical review from 2018.
Vaccinium myrtillus (bilberry) fruit extract has been found to improve skin barrier function in a clinical trial published in the Antioxidants journal. This means that it can help protect the skin from external damage from sources like bacteria and environmental toxins.
Naked & Thriving Renew Serum also contains aloe leaf juice, which is one of the most effective natural skin moisturizing plants, as we documented in our Curology ingredients review article.
Clearly Naked & Thriving’s serum has a number of effective botanical ingredients, but it’s also entirely free of harmful additives such as fragrance and harsh preservatives, which sets it apart from many of the skincare products we review on Illuminate Health.
This is one of the most effective and well-formulated skincare products we’ve reviewed, and we would recommend it. We believe this product is likely to improve skin quality and reduce wrinkles based on its ingredients.
Naked & Thriving Renew Serum Real User Review
One of the only YouTube reviews of Naked & Thriving Renew Serum features a real user who shares how to use the product and details her results.
This video is published on the Naked & Thriving YouTube channel so the potential bias is high, but we still consider it useful:
Surprisingly Accurate Health Claims
One thing we appreciate about the product page on Naked & Thriving’s website is they make accurate health claims. The brand states that 100% of users noticed improved skin hydration when using this product, based on a survey of 34 participants, but very clearly states that these are “Consumer Results.”
The brand does not make false and misleading claims of “Clinical Results,” which would suggest that the product has been studied in a legitimate medical trial published in a scientific journal such as the ones cited throughout this article.
Many skincare brands “oversell” and claim clinical efficacy without proof, so we appreciate the ethical nature of Naked & Thriving’s claims. Many skincare brands we’ve reviewed on Illuminate Health have claimed to be “clinically proven” to work based on similar user-reported data, which is misleading to consumers.
