Moment Drink is a functional drink brand that was on Shark Tank, that claims you can “drink your meditation.” The brand sells water with blended botanical ingredients that they claim can support health.

But does Moment Drink actually contain research-backed botanical ingredients or are these just marketing claims? Are the ingredients included at a high enough dose to have any effect? Will Moment Drinks cause side effects? And how do real users rate and describe the taste and effects of Moment Drinks?

In this article we’ll answer all of these questions and more as we analyze the ingredients in Moment Drink based on medical studies to give our take on whether they’re likely to be effective or if they’re a waste of money.

We’ll explain our issues with the ingredient doses, document where to find Moment Drink for the best price, and feature real, unsponsored Moment Drink user reviews.

Ingredient Analysis

Moment Drink ingredients

The ingredients in the rooibos blood orange flavor of Moment Drink are shown above. The good news is that they are all natural, whole food ingredients and there are no unhealthy additives.

Blood orange has been shown to have beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system in a clinical trial published in the Journal of Nutrition.

Apple cider vinegar is nutrient-rich and can support weight loss in overweight individuals as we documented in our review of Burn Evolved (another product containing this ingredient).

While we consider this product to have a healthy formulation, we can’t find any evidence that it will provide functional benefits, regardless of what “adaptogens” the brand claims are included.

Whether or not an ingredient will have an effect depends on its dose, and the dose of the active ingredients in Moment Drink (like l-theanine and ashwagandha) is not published.

As an example, Moment Drink claims that ashwagandha “relieves stress” and there is research backing this statement. A 2021 clinical trial found that ashwagandha supplementation reduced stress levels in participants. But ashwagandha was included at a 300 milligram (mg) dose and a standardized extract was used (which is more potent than the raw botanical material included in Moment Drink).

We have no idea how much ashwagandha is in Moment Drink. It could be 800 mg. It could be 2 mg. Without ingredient dosing information, we recommend that consumers entirely disregard claims of specific health benefits made by brands.

So we don’t believe that Moment Drink is likely to have any specific health effects, but how do real users respond to it? We’ll review in the next section.

Moment got famous on Shark Tank, as do many brands that pitch on the TV show. Here’s the founders’ Shark Tank pitch:

Does Moment Drink Cause Side Effects?

Moment Drink hasn’t been studied in any clinical trials so it’s impossible to say for certain whether or not the products cause side effects. However, we can make an educated guess based on the active ingredients.

We do not believe that Moment Drink will cause side effects for the average consumer. It’s a simple botanical blend and the botanical ingredients don’t appear to be included at very high of a dose.

High doses of ashwagandha can cause gastrointestinal upset and vomiting according to the LiverTox database, but we highly doubt that there is a high enough dose in Moment Drink to achieve this side effect. This is also more likely an issue with a potent ashwagandha extract rather than with raw ashwagandha (what’s in Moment Drink).

FAQ Page on Drink Moment’s website suggests that consumers should stop taking the product and contact their doctor if they experience serious side effects.

Real Moment Drink Customer Reviews

Amazon is a better resource for honest customer reviews than a brand’s website in our opinion. Moment has been reviewed over 600 times on Amazon with an average review rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars.

The top positive review from a verified purchaser comes from a user named “Heather Meulenberg” who claims that the drinks have an antidepressant effect:

“So good! I love all the flavors, it keeps my taste buds from getting bored, and drinking one a day has really helped me with my seasonal sadness.”

The top negative review from a verified purchaser is written by a user named “Erica_O” who claims to have experienced side effects:

“I drank my coworkers because after only a couple of sips, she couldnt finish it. She said it tasted horrible and her head was starting to hurt almost immediately. About an hour after the 2nd one, i got angry and ranted about a few things. Then i remembered that i tried ashwaganda about a year ago in capsule form and it had the same effect”

Conclusion

Moment Drink is one of the healthier drinks that you can find in regular convenience stores like CVS. We don’t necessarily recommend the product because we can’t find any evidence that it has functional benefits to justify its price, but we have no issue with consumers purchasing it and it’s great that it’s made with entirely natural, plant-based ingredients and contains no unhealthy additives.

We do not believe that Moment Drink is likely to cause side effects, nor have we come across many customer reports complaining of side effects.

Most online customer reviews of this brand are favorable and claim that it’s relaxing and tastes good.

At the time of writing this article, the cheapest place to buy Moment Drink is a site called Gear.com which we linked to above.
