Prime Prometics is a makeup brand that claims their products can fight the effects of aging. The brand describes their product line as "Pro-Age Beauty" that are "now the gold standard."
But does Prime Prometics use ingredients proven to reduce wrinkles? Does the brand use any unhealthy ingredients? And is Prime Prometics better or worse than popular "healthy" makeup brands like Ogee Makeup?
In this article we'll answer all of these questions and more, as we analyze the ingredients in Prime Prometics' popular mascara to give our take on whether or not it's effectively-formulated.
We'll also compare Prime Prometics to other popular "healthy" makeup brands to pick our winners (and losers).
Key takeaways:
- No anti-aging active ingredients we can identify
- Contains inactive ingredients we consider unhealthy
- We do not currently recommend Prime Prometics
Ingredient Analysis
The ingredients in the Black shade of Prime Prometics PrimeLash Mascara are shown below:

Beeswax is one of only two ingredients we can find research backing to support.
This natural compound was shown in a 2023 medical review to help prevent water loss from skin.
Glycerin is also an effective skin moisturizing ingredient according to a clinical trial published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science.
There are three inactive ingredients in this formulation that we consider to be unhealthy.
Methylparaben and propylparaben are synthetic preservatives, and parabens are clinically shown to have endocrine-disrupting effects, as we documented in our review of Simpler Hair Color.
Parfum is a term for fragrance, which is also clinically shown to be detrimental to human health.
As we've discussed in many Illuminate Health reviews, we recommend avoiding all cosmetic products containing fragrance.
Overall, we cannot find any directly anti-aging active ingredients in this formulation, and we do not currently recommend it due to the inactive ingredients highlighted above.
Questionable Health Claims on Website
There are several health claims on the Prime Prometics website which we consider to be highly questionable.
The brand claims that their products are hypoallergenic:

However, as we documented in the Ingredient Analysis section, some of their products contain fragrance.
Fragrance is a well-known contact allergen (source) and can trigger negative immune responses (source).
Prime Prometics also claims that their products are made for cancer survivors:

While this is a noble mission, parabens are clinically shown to have pro-cancer effects (at least in vitro):
"This study provides evidence for the establishment of a potential cancer-associated AOP for parabens."
A clinical trial published in the Endocrinology journal found that chronic exposure to parabens in mice increased tumor volume, again suggesting a pro-cancer effect.
The brand's website claims that some of their products are "clinically-tested":

But the only proof provided on that product page was a consumer study with 10 participants:

We hope that's not the only evidence that Prime Prometics is using to make a clinical claim, and we urge the brand to clarify.
Prime Prometics vs. Popular "Healthy" Makeup
Here's how Prime Prometics compares to other popular "healthy" makeup brands in terms of formulation quality, in our opinion:
RMS Beauty
Contains research-backed active ingredients like jojoba oil, which is clinically shown to help repair the skin barrier, and to have an anti-aging effect.
We consider RMS Beauty to be a superior option from both a potential efficacy perspective and a health perspective.
Winner: RMS Beauty
Seint Makeup
The formulations we analyzed in our Seint Makeup review article contained some ingredients we consider mildly unhealthy (like a contact allergen called lanolin).
However, none contained parabens or fragrance, so we give Seint the edge from a health perspective.
Winner: Seint Makeup
Ogee Makeup
Contains research-backed, naturally-derived active ingredients, and is free from any unhealthy additives.
Winner: Ogee Makeup
