Miracle Balm is a facial balm sold by cosmetics company Jones Road. This balm comes in a wide range of shades, and the company describes it as “a wash of soft-focus moisture to perfect and enhance skin.”
But does Miracle Balm contain research-backed ingredients for improving skin appearance? Does it contain any unhealthy ingredients? What's the controversy surrounding the brand? And is Jones Road Miracle Balm better or worse than popular moisturizers like Bubble Moisturizer?
In this article we’ll answer all of these questions and more, as we analyze the ingredients in Miracle Balm to give our take on whether or not it’s likely to be effective for improving skin moisture, and whether or not it's healthy.
We'll also feature a video discussing a controversy surrounding Jones Road, and compare the brand to other popular moisturizers in terms of formulation quality to pick our winners (and losers).
Key takeaways:
- Contains many skin-healing and anti-aging active ingredients
- Contains three inactive ingredients we consider unhealthy
- We do not currently recommend Jones Road Miracle Balm
Ingredient Analysis
The ingredients in Jones Road Miracle Balm AU NATUREL are shown below:

There are a number of research-backed ingredients for improving skin quality.
Castor seed oil may have naturally exfoliating effects according to a clinical trial published in the British Journal of Dermatology.
Beeswax is clinically shown to have antimicrobial properties, as we documented in our Neutrogena Hydro Boost reviews article. This suggests it can be effective against acne.
Argania spinosa kernel oil has an anti-aging effect when applied topically, and increases skin elasticity according to a clinical trial published in the Clinical Interventions in Aging journal.
Ginger root oil has skin-protective effects according to a 2022 clinical trial.
Jojoba oil is clinically shown to enhance skin hydration status.
We consider Jones Road Miracle Balm likely to enhance skin quality, skin hydration and to have an anti-aging effect.
There are three inactive ingredients in this formulation that we consider unhealthy.
Red 28 is a synthetic dye, and a 2015 medical review documents how artificial dyes can be absorbed through the skin and may have harmful effects in the body.
Tin oxide was shown in a 2018 clinical trial to have a toxic effect on human cancer cells, although this was a test tube study which is a weaker standard of evidence than a human study.
Phenoxyethanol is a synthetic preservative that’s been shown in one clinical trial as being toxic to human cells, as we documented in our review of CeraVe Vitamin C Serum.
We do not currently recommend Jones Road Miracle Balm due to the inclusion of the inactive ingredients highlighted above.
Jones Road Controversy
A YouTube creator named Angelika has an engaging video with over 100,000 views that documents some of the controversies surrounding Jones Road Beauty products:
Miracle Balm vs. Popular Moisturizers
Here's how Jones Road Miracle Balm compares to other popular moisturizers in terms of formulation quality, in our opinion:
Bubble Moisturizer
Contains naturally-derived active ingredients like avocado oil, which is clinically shown to moisturize skin and heal dry and damaged skin.
Contains one inactive ingredient we consider unhealthy, but overall their moisturizer has a significantly healthier formulation than Jones Road Miracle Balm.
Winner: Bubble Moisturizer
Amarose Boosting Moisturizer
This moisturizer is sold by the popular brand behind Amarose Skin Tag Remover.
As we documented in the linked article, the brand failed to publish the full ingredient list at the time of our last analysis, which is a consumer safety issue.
Jones Road publishes the full ingredient list, so at least you know what's in the product.
Winner: Jones Road Miracle Balm
Beef Tallow Moisturizer
This TikTok-viral trend has promise; beef tallow contains naturally hydrating compounds, and can be an effective, healthy moisturizer if stored and transported in proper conditions.
