Nuts.com is one of the largest internet retailers of bulk foods. They started selling nuts exclusively, and today sell a wide variety of food products.
But how do the prices of nuts on Nuts.com compare to other online retailers like Amazon? What about their seed prices? How do real users rate and describe the taste and quality of Nuts.com products?
In this article we'll answer all of these questions and more as we compare the price of bulk nuts and seeds on Nuts.com to the equivalent product on Amazon. We'll also share real, unsponsored Nuts.com customer reviews.
Nut Prices Comparison
Nuts are unsurprisingly the biggest sellers on Nuts.com, and the website has a wide variety of them. We know from medical research that consumption of nuts is associated with a wide range of health benefits, but they can often be expensive.
Below is a comparison between bulk nuts on Nuts.com and on Amazon based on the price-per-pound of popular nuts:
Almonds
- Nuts.com: $9.69
- Amazon: $4.38 (link to product)
Cashews
- Nuts.com: $13.99
- Amazon: $8.75 (link to product)
Peanuts
- Nuts.com: $4.99
- Amazon: $3.49 (link to product)
Pecans
- Nuts.com: $9.99
- Amazon: $8.08 (link to product)
Walnuts
- Nuts.com: $10.99
- Amazon: $4.51 (link to product)
Pistachios
- Nuts.com: $12.99
- Amazon: $5.66 (link to product)
Macadamia Nuts
- Nuts.com: $15.99
- Amazon: $15.33 (link to product)
Clearly, for consumers willing to price shop, Amazon is a better option than Nuts.com based on price alone. The Amazon products we linked to above were not all Amazon branded products, but were rather the cheapest products we could find based on the category.
We Tried Nuts.com Ourselves
As one of the authors of this article (Calloway), I wanted to try Nuts.com myself to share my thoughts on the taste and overall product experience.
I purchased three different types of nuts from Nuts.com that I typically purchase at my local Whole Foods: salted pistachios, walnuts and almonds.
The packaging was easy-to-open and mostly plastic-free, which is a plus.
Shipping was highly efficient. I purchased from the brand's website and received the products two days later.
The nuts were high-quality, which is what I expected given the price point and organic status.
The quality of these nuts was significantly higher than what I typically get at Whole Foods. The almonds had a soft, buttery taste and texture and the raw walnuts were less dry and bitter than I'm used to.
Given that I was only purchasing plain nuts, I don't see much of a benefit to doing so on Nuts.com compared to a local grocery store, as the price was similar but I had to pay for shipping.
That being said, since the quality was higher, I could see myself intermittently purchasing from this brand.
I could also see myself using Nuts.com to buy a gift for someone in the future.
Overall, I'd rate Nuts.com 8/10.
Seed Prices Comparison
Consuming seeds is a great way to increase nutrients in the diet, as well as healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. A medical review published in the Advances in Neurobiology journal found that seed consumption can reduce blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Below is a price comparison between Nuts.com and Amazon based on the price-per-pound of popular seeds:
Chia Seeds
- Nuts.com: $5.99
- Amazon: $4.09 (link to product)
Flax Seeds
- Nuts.com: $3.99
- Amazon: $3.19 (link to product)
Shelled Hemp Seeds
- Nuts.com: $14.99
- Amazon: $6.75 (link to product)
Poppy Seeds
- Amazon: $12.65
- Nuts.com: $5.99 (link to product)
Pumpkin Seeds
- Nuts.com: $7.99
- Amazon: $6.99 (link to product)
Sunflower Seeds
- Nuts.com: $3.99
- Amazon: $3.40 (link to product)
Seeds are generally cheaper on Amazon than on Nuts.com, but Nuts.com did outperform for one product in this category ($5.99 is a great price for a pound of poppy seeds).
